These are some of Mt. Carmel's own who played professional baseball. As far as this writer can determine, none made it to the Major Leagues, but they played and we can be proud of all of them.
Mack Crum Right-handed pitcher. Played in the Chicago White Sox system from 1948 - 1953.
Ralph Raber Right-handed pitcher. Played one year (1950) with the Phillies organization and one year (1951) with the Cleveland Indians organization.
Dick Hockgeiger Outfielder. Played one year (1948) in the Dodgers organization.
Jim Warmoth Left-handed pitcher. Received a bonus for signing with the Braves and played three years (1951-1953) in their minor league system.
Bob Pfieffer Right-handed pitcher. Bob signed a contract with the St. Louis Browns and went to spring training camp with them. The story is that he told one of the other players during training camp that he wished he had signed with the Cardinals. The player talked him into going home to sign with the other club. Once he left training camp the Browns suspended him and he ended up being barred forever from professional baseball.
